BILL TO INCREASE ORGAN DONATION

1 Be it enacted by this Student Congress assembled that:

3 Section 1: The United States Federal Government shall establish a minimum
4 gas mileage for all American 2009 model vehicles.
5
6 Section 2: The minimum gas mileage for these vehicles shall be set at twenty
7 five miles per gallon.

9 Section 3: The only vehicles exempt from these new standards are the
10 vehicles specifically designed for heavy pulling, tractor trailers,
11 and all vehicles containing a motor with ten cylinders or more.

13 Section 4: This standard will be enforced by the
14 Administration.

16 Section 5: The vehicles failing to meet these new standards will not be placed
17 into the American market.

19 Section 6: This Bill will go into effect

- Section 1: In the status quo, the legislative body is using the legislative bill
- process to piggyback bipartisan legislation.
- Section 2: The President of the
- valuable legislation to maintain legislative integrity.
- Section 3: This system congests the legislative process and leads to
- a backlash of bureaucratic red tape.
- Section 4: The President of the
- power of line-item veto.
- Section 5: This bill will take effect on December 15, 2007.

Reinstating the draft
1. Section 1: The Selective Service will be actively reinstated.
2. Section 2: All men and women between the ages of 18-25 will be
included.
3. These current registrants for the system will be entered into a lottery system to
4. become active for a period of two years.
5. Section 3: The Department of Defense shall by regulation prescribe deferments,
6. postponements and exemptions from such service including, deferments for
7. higher education, physical or mental disability, hardships, and service in the
8. uniformed armed services or public life safety professions.
9. Section 4: The Department of Justice shall be responsible for enforcement of this
10. piece of legislation.
11. Section 5: This piece of legislation shall come into effect January 1, 2008.

A Bill Concerning the Ban of Trans-Fat
BE IT ENACTED BY THIS STUDENT CONGRESS ASSEMBLED THAT:
1 Section 1: The use of Trans-fats in any consumer products will be banned.
2 Section 2: Trans-fats will be defined as any fat that has hydrogen added to it
3 by a manufacturer.
4 Section 3: All companies who produce consumer products will be given one
5 year to comply with this law following its passage.
6 Section 4: Violation of this law will result in a $10,000 fine for the first
7 offense, and $100,000 extra for each offense following.
8 Section 5: This bill will take effect on passage of this legislation.

A Bill Concerning Presidential Signing Statements
Be it enacted by the student congress assembled that:
1 Section 1: The use of Presidential Signing Statements will be made illegal.
2 Section 2: All Presidential Signing Statements already in effect will be
3 declared null and void.
4 Section 3: This bill will go into effect immediately upon passage.

2 Section 1: The Department of Health and Human Services will establish
3 a comprehensive national health insurance program for all
4 persons not covered by private health insurance.
5 Section 2: Funding shall be drawn from general federal revenues.

1 Section 1. A three-point lap and shoulder restraint system shall
2 be installed on every vehicle classified as a school bus.
3 Section 2. No child shall ride as a passenger in a bus unless that
4 child is wearing such restraint, properly adjusted and fastened
5 according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
6 Section 3. Schools and manufacturers must have seatbelts in place by
7 August 1, 2010.

1 BE IT ENACTED by the Student Congress assembled that
2 Section 1: Suspects 18 and over will have to provide DNA samples when they
3 are arrested for any felony, including but not limited to murder, kidnapping,
4 burglary, and sex offenses. These samples will be recorded in the National
5 DNA database, known as CODIS.
6 Section 2: If suspects are acquitted, not prosecuted, or convicted of a
7 misdemeanor, they can request that the sample be expunged.
8 Section 3: DNA samples collected from sexual assault victims will be put into
9 CODIS.
10 Section 4: This bill shall be called Katie's Law, in memory of Kathryn "Katie"
11 Sepich, a

- Section 1: The basis by which the premium of a motor insurance policy shall be
- limited to driving record only.
3. Section 2: Driving record shall be defined as motor vehicle violations and not age 4. or location of residence.
- Section 3: In the event that the insured vehicle is insured though a business all
- previous considerations to insurance rates will be retained.
7. Section 4: Implementation shall begin July 1, 2007.
