Resolution  #__1__

 

1.  Whereas open borders between nations allow free access to countries, and

2.  Whereas the United States - Mexico border is the prime area for illegal

3.  immigrant  crossings, and

4.  Whereas the security for the border is ineffective,

5.  Therefore, be it resolved by this Student Congress assembled that the United States

6.  of America place 50,000 additional troops on the U.S.-Mexico border to help solve

7.  border problems.

Resolution _2_

 

1.  Whereas illnesses such as heart disease and cancer continue to claim

2.  the lives of thousands of people ever year, and

3.  Whereas nervous system diseases like Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s

4.  continue to deprive people of health, independence, and well-being, and

5.  Whereas the number of people who contract one of these types of

6.  illnesses is continually increasing, and

7.  Whereas stem cell research shows a strong potential for treating and

8.  curing these illnesses and saving thousands of lives every year,

9.  Therefore, be it resolved by this Student Congress assembled that the

10. United Sates federal government should fund stem cell research.

Resolution 3

RESOLUTION FOR FCC JURISDICTION OF THE INTERNET

1                     Where as, currently inappropriate material and communications are

2                    being accessed, and
3                      Where as, there have been several abuses by countries, and

4                      Where as, there have been many instances of identity theft, fraud and

5          illegal activity, and

6                      Where as, the United States already have specific laws for controlling

7          internet access, therefore

8          BE IT RESOLVED by the Student Congress assembled that:

9          the Federal Communications Commission should establish a policy regarding

10        internet communications.

Sunflower District Congress

 

Immediate Aid For Darfur

 

1          Whereas, the genocide in Darfur has reached horrific proportions and

2                     

3          Whereas, hundreds of thousands are dying every day and

4

5           Whereas, human life is sacred and should not be violently exterminated and

6         

7           Whereas, the United States in not providing any aid of any sort,

8                     

9            BE IT RESOLVED that the United States shall provide immediate military and

10                   

11          humanitarian aid to Darfur.

                                                         RESOLUTION #___5__

 

1.                  Whereas there has been a substantial increase in school violence,

2.                  Whereas school teachers have the unalienable right to self-defense and the

3.                  responsibility to protect the students in their care,

4.                  Whereas students should feel a sense of protection while in school, and

5.                  Whereas all citizens of the United States of America have the right to bear

6.                  arms,

7.                  Be it resolved by the Student Congress assembled: that all teachers in the

8.                  United States high school system be allowed access to a firearm for

9.                  self-protective reasons, on the condition that they be properly certified.

Resolution ____6____

 

 

  1.         WHEREAS, the dangers of space exploration are better left to the private

 

  1. sector where the disasters like the Space Shuttle Columbia incident will be

 

  1. viewed as personal tragedies and not national traumas that demoralize supporters

 

  1. and hamper progress, and

 

  1.         WHEREAS, it has been demonstrated that there is a market, however, small,

 

  1. for space tourism, and that the profits made as a result of nurturing this market

 

  1. could greatly improve prospects for future expeditions into outer space, and

 

  1.         WHEREAS, relations with other space-exploring nations such as Russia or

 

  1. China are improving, reducing the need for projecting national pride and rallying

 

  1. support against them via the competition generated by the space program,

 

  1. therefore

 

  1.           BE IT RESOLVED by the Sunflower NFL Student Congress assembled

 

  1.  that the United States places the space program on auction to domestic businesses

 

  1.  for the purposes of privatization. 

 

El Dorado High School

 

Resolution ___7__

Sunflower District Congress

        1.      Whereas many teenagers participate in federally funded abstinence-only

2.      sex education programs, and

3.      Whereas the information taught in sex education programs from the

4.      Bush administration is often misleading, and

5.      Whereas abstinence-only sex education programs empirically fail,

6.      Therefore, be it resolved by this Student Congress assembled that the

7.      United States Federal Government should support comprehensive sex

8.      education programs.

Sunflower District Congress

  1. Whereas, Iran has stated its intent to develop nuclear power and
  2. Whereas, Iranian nuclear research will inevitably lead to development of nuclear
  3. weapons and
  4. Whereas, Iranian nuclear weaponry poses a great threat to the United States, the
  5. Middle East region and world peace as a whole, therefore   
  6. BE IT RESOLVED by the Sunflower District Student Congress
  7. Assembled that the United States military be authorized to take all
  8. appropriate actions to counter this growing threat.

RESOLUTION #       9      

 

 

Whereas: The metric system has become an international standard for measurement, and

Whereas: The metric system is simpler than the U. S. Customary System currently employed officially by the U. S., and

Whereas: The United States is the only global economic power, yet to officially adopt the metric system.

Be it resolved that the United States shall adopt the metric system as the official standard of measurement.
